Obituary for Gordon Logan
Calhoun City, MS—William Gordon Logan, 90, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Mississippi Veterans Home in Oxford, MS. Born November 16, 1926, he was the son of the late Harvey Logan and the late Daisey Coleman Logan. He was retired from Graeber Bros. Propane Gas, where he was District Manager. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II, and was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, and Honorable Service Pin. Gordon was a member of Grace Southern Baptist Church, serving as a deacon for over 50 years. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the American Legion.
Pryor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A funeral service honoring his life will be held Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 2:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. There will be a visitation from 10:00am until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Ervin Wright.
Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada, MS with military honors.
Pallbearers will be Ben Logan, Bronson Logan, Jason Logan, Shane Cook, Chip Cole, and Jeremy Harville. Honorary Pallbearers are Bobby Fletcher, Leon Prestage, Rev. James Taylor, Mike Lane, Jerry Baker, Robert Sharpe, and Randy Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Lee Logan of Calhoun City, MS; son, William G. “Bill” Logan Jr. and wife Pam of Calhoun City. Step-sons, Joe Cook, Calhoun City, and Steve Logan and wife Peggy of Clarksdale, MS; a daughter, Rosanne Schwalenberg and husband Davy of Winchester, VA; a step-daughter, Jeannie McEntire of Calhoun, GA; and brothers, Dean (Minnie) Logan, Larry (Barbara) Logan, and Jerry (Joy) Logan, all of Grenada, MS; a sister, Yvonne (Robert) Hitt, Eupora, MS; 4 grandchildren, Bronson Logan, Cobie Logan Box, Leslie Schwalenberg Machtinger (Mike), and Deanna Schwalenberg. 9 step-grandchildren, Shane (Ginger) Cook, Casey Cook, Chad (Holly)Cook, Shannon Cook, Tyler McEntire, Angela (Glenn) Brooks, LeAnn (Brian) Hill, Jamie Vega, and Chip (Beth) Cole; 3 great-grandchildren, Grady Machtinger, Gabe Machtinger, and Cohen Logan; and 13 step great-grandchildren, Stacia Cook, Jobie Cook, Jaxon Cook, Kinsley Cook, Anna Hays Cook, Campbell Wray Cook, Matt Brooks, Logan Brooks, Taylor Hill, Anna Grace Hill, Gunner Vega, Allie Cole, and Ty Cole.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Burns Logan; a daughter, Sandra K. Logan; a brother, Harvey G. Logan, Jr.; and a sister, Edna Logan Knight.
