Life Story for
Mr. Geraldine "G.T." Goodson
Calhoun City---Mr. Geraldine “G.T.” Goodson, 85, entered into his Heavenly home from Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford on Sunday, May 13, 2018. Born August 23, 1932, in New Gauley, he was the son of the late Jerald Pascahl Goodson and the late Valda Tolle Goodson. He attended Big Creek School, and was of Baptist faith. During his career he farmed and drove a log truck. He started his own Logging Company and owned and operated it for over 25 years before retiring. He and Ms. Barbara grew up together in New Gauley. He was born during the time of the Great Depression, so he knew what hard times were all about. Growing up during that time made him very conservative. He was very unselfish, and was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever he could. He just wanted what was best for his family. Among his many hobbies, he loved to fish and bird hunt. He also loved to garden, and was known to overwhelm people with his tomatoes. Above all things, Mr. Geraldine treasured his family the most. He simply adored his daughter, SaDeanna, and loved to spend time with his grandson, Dustin. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, and spent two years on the front line in Korea and the infamous “38th Parallel. Growing up in the country, he had never been anywhere until at the age of 20 when he sailed off for Korea. It was on that boat ride that he went down below deck to the chapel and gave his life to Jesus. A very kind and gentle man, Mr. Geraldine always put the needs of others above himself. He will be deeply missed by everyone that knew him.
