Life Story for Mr. Geraldine "G.T." Goodson

Mr. Geraldine "G.T." Goodson
Calhoun City---Mr. Geraldine “G.T.” Goodson, 85, entered into his Heavenly home from Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford on Sunday, May 13, 2018. Born August 23, 1932, in New Gauley, he was the son of the late Jerald Pascahl Goodson and the late Valda Tolle Goodson. He attended Big Creek School, and was of Baptist faith. During his career he farmed and drove a log truck. He started his own Logging Company and owned and operated it for over 25 years before retiring. He and Ms. Barbara grew up together in New Gauley. He was born during the time of the Great Depression, so he knew what hard times were all about. Growing up during that time made him very conservative. He was very unselfish, and was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever he could. He just wanted what was best for his family. Among his many hobbies, he loved to fish and bird hunt. He also loved to garden, and was known to overwhelm people with his tomatoes. Above all things, Mr. Geraldine treasured his family the most. He simply adored his daughter, SaDeanna, and loved to spend time with his grandson, Dustin. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, and spent two years on the front line in Korea and the infamous “38th Parallel. Growing up in the country, he had never been anywhere until at the age of 20 when he sailed off for Korea. It was on that boat ride that he went down below deck to the chapel and gave his life to Jesus. A very kind and gentle man, Mr. Geraldine always put the needs of others above himself. He will be deeply missed by everyone that knew him.
Pryor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Goodson family.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at 2:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the funeral home. Bro. Daniel Hathorn, Bro. Mike Smith, and Bro. Bennie Hill will be officiating. Concluding Service and Interment will follow at New Gauley Cemetery in Calhoun City.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ray Hamilton, Mike Lucius, Michael Denley, Thomas E. Goodson, Roger Dale Goodson, and Jerry Dale Goodson.
Honorary pallbearers will be his supper club friends.
He leaves behind his wife, Barbara White Goodson of Calhoun City; his daughter, SaDeanna Hardin and her husband Roncie of Pittsboro; a grandson, Dustin Ross Hardin and his wife Jessica of Pittsboro; and a great-grandson, Colten Bailey Hardin; nephew, Roger Dale Goodson of Grenada; and three nieces, Carol Wilburn of Coffeeville, Beverly Goodson Davidson of Atlanta, Ga, and Christie Brown of Calhoun City. He also had numerous first and second cousins that he communicated daily with and loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerald and Valda Goodson; three brothers, Raif Goodson, Lefferage Goodson, and Jessie Wayne Goodson; a niece, Deborah Goodson Jones Harbin; and great nephew, Tyler Kirt Jones.
