Vardaman---Gale Baker Lester, 71, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 18, 2018. Born January 19, 1947 in Bruce, MS., she was the daughter of the late Lee Troy Baker and the late Leslie Christine Sipes Baker. Gale attended Ellard High School, and was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church. In 1964, she and Sonny Lester were married, and they have spent 54 wonderful years together. She lived her life in the presence of God through her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and gave him praise, honor and glory for carrying her through to the end of her earthly life and into his presence. She was a great mother and friend, and loved all of her family very much, and her memory will be cherished forever in their hearts.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at 2:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation on Monday, August 20, 2018 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the funeral home. Bro. Jeff Harmon and Bro. Marlon Long will be officiating. Interment will follow at New Liberty Cemetery in Vardaman.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons. She leaves behind her husband of 54 years, Sonny Lester; three sons, Tommy (Debbie) Lester of Vardaman, Dewey (Becky) Lester of Vardaman, and Stacey (Shirley) Lester of Gore Springs; step-daughter, Sissy Carter of Alabama; two sisters, Betty Turner of Southaven, and Jo (Robert) Cumberland of Calhoun City; two brothers, Harold Baker of Southaven, and Danny (Joni) Baker of Southaven; eight grandchildren, Dewayne Lester, Catlin Lester, Ashley Lester, Derrica Brunson, D.C. Lester, Brandon Lester, Tyler Lester, and Joseph Lester; five step grandchildren, Brian Smith, Woody Smith, Tiffany Carter, J.J. Getz, and Ryan Carter; she was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Paul Baker and James William Baker; three sisters, Nola Fay Mabry, Lola Helms, and Margaret White; a granddaughter, Sumar Lester; and a great-grandson, Andrew Lester.
