Obituary

Randy Lee Lafayette, 48, passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday, January 1, 2019. Born July 17, 1970 in Houston, MS, he was the son of Lucille Logan Lafayette and the late Dennis Leon Lafayette. Randy was a 1989 graduate of Calhoun City High School, and a member of Trinity Bible Baptist Church. He worked for many years at Piggly Wiggly in Calhoun City, and most recently for his mother, Ms. Lucille at South Main Grocery. He loved woodworking, and also loved to be outdoors, whether hunting or fishing, or just shooting. Randy will also be remembered for his dedication to the Fire Departments of both Calhoun City and Sabougla. He was a devoted public servant, and had 29 years of service with Calhoun City Fire Department and 3 years with Sabougla Fire Department. He was just a true friend to so many. He went above and beyond to help the community and its people in any way he could. The impact he made on his community will never be forgotten, and we will always be grateful for his service. God has now called him home, and he has been reunited in Heaven with his son, Tanner. Randy leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity that will be forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
Pryor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Lafayette family.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 2:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the funeral home. Bro. Chad O’Brian, Bro. Jim Vance, and Bro. Robert Earl Alexander will be officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Calhoun City.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ezra Conner, Greg Goodwin, Barry West, Chris Brown, Chester Ray Dye, Jo Jo Bevill, C.J. Foster, and Zach Todd.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Calhoun City Fire Department and the Sabougla Fire Department.
He leaves behind his mother, Lucille Logan Lafayette, and his daughter Isabella Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his son, Tanner Lafayette; his father, Dennis Leon Lafayette; his brother, Danny Lafayette; and his grandparents, Jim and Eunice Logan, and Inez and Eli Lafayette.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calhoun City and Sabougla Fire Departments.
Expressions of sympathy may be left for the family at pryorfuneralhome.com.

We are so sorry for your loss. When this happens in our family we need more than human strength. God and his Son can provide what we need. Please review these scriptures : John 5:28-29 “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.” Revelation 21:4 “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
