Obituary for James "Mickey" Laughlin Sr.

James “Mickey” Laughlin, 70, passed away at his home on Friday, January 4, 2019. Born June 21, 1948 in Greenville, MS, he was the son of the late James Milton Laughlin and the late Lena Mae Curtis McCluskey Laughlin. Mickey was a graduate of Coldwater High School, and from there he attended Northwest Community College and graduated in 1970. That same year, he and Joyce were married, and together they were blessed with two children, Denise and Michael. He was a member of Montevista Baptist Church, and was retired from Caviness Woodworking in Calhoun City, and spent most of his time doing what he loved, working in his yard. His family says he could jump on his mower and just ride all day. A very loving and gentle man, he will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him, but his memory will live on forever in their hearts.
Pryor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Laughlin family.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be held Sunday, January 6, 2019, at 2:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation on Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 12:00pm until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Jason Brock will be officiating. Interment will follow at Montevista Cemetery in Webster County.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Cooper, Sammie Wright, Kenneth Smith, Ralph Williams, Troy James, Toxie Russell, and Scottie Jones.
He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Joyce Cooper Laughlin of Eupora; daughter, Denise Laughlin (Michael) Sharpe of Eupora; son, James Michael (Ronna) Laughlin, Jr. of Prairieville, LA; brother, Billy (Diana) Laughlin of Clearwater, FL; three sisters, Sandra (Richard) Kopf of Senatobia, MS, Debbie Vaughn of Stewart, MS, and Brenda (Sammy) Malone of Kilmichael, MS; grandchildren, Michael Laughlin, Brandon Laughlin, Noah Laughlin, Nathaniel Laughlin, Brady Sharpe, and Kayden Sharpe.
