Memphis---Annie Mae Sims Spencer, 76, passed away peacefully at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis on Sunday, August 4, 2019. Born March 21, 1943, in Calhoun City, she was the daughter of the late Roy Thomas Sims and the late Beulah Mae Keenum Sims. She graduated from Calhoun City High School in 1961, and was a member of New Gauley Freewill Baptist Church. In life, she was retired after working many years as a medical receptionist for Memphis Medical Specialist. She was always very involved in her community and passionately followed politics. She was very active in church, played piano, and even sang in weddings. Even though she spent the greater part of her life in Memphis, she always felt like a daughter of Mississippi, and instilled that in her children. She was a very beautiful and sweet lady, and had many friends of whom she loved and whom loved her. She was very gracious and genuine. She had a positive impact upon everyone she knew. Her family and many friends will miss her dearly.
Pryor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Spencer family.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at 2:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 from 1:00pm until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Jim Vance will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Michael Allette, George Spencer, and Greg Spencer.
She leaves behind her daughter, Ida Gwin Spencer of Los Angeles; sons, George (Jill) Spencer of Memphis, and Greg (Lydia) Spencer of Millington; daughter, Kelley (Michael) Allette of Millington; and grandchildren, Summer Nicole Spencer, Lily Margree Spencer, and Annie Melissa Spencer, all of Millington; and also many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edward Sims.

Bobby, Jill, Kelly, Thor, Greg, Lydia, Gwin, Summer, Lille & Annie. My heart breaks for each of you. Ann & I met in the strangest of ways but were fast friends from the very first. I haven't seen her in quite a long time but we talked most every day (she was my conversation in the crazy afternoon traffic). We shared stories of our kids & grandkids & I felt like I knew each & every one of you. She will be greatly missed.
