Thomas Wayne “Tommy” Hallum, 89, entered into his Heavenly home from Baptist Nursing Home in Calhoun City on Saturday, October 12, 2019. Born February 7, 1930, in the Mt. Tabor Community, he was the son of the late Baron Lee Hallum and the late Mary Bettie Terry Hallum. Tommy graduated from Pittsboro High School in 1948, and was a faithful member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church where he was Deacon and music director for many years. On February 17, 1984, he married the former Sarah Margaret Few, and they have spent 35 wonderful years together. He worked many years at Calhoun County Journal and served as Chancery Clerk of Calhoun County from 1980-1992 and in various other capacities throughout his career. He was very creative and artistic and expressed his love through his paintings and photography. Tommy loved gardening and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was the founding member and organizer of the Calhoun County Historical and Genealogy Society. His memory will be cherished forever in the hearts of his friends and family.

Tommy was a dear friend to me and often told me stories about my father and his ministry in the Calhoun City community through his long life there. I trusted him with my father's records of his ministry at Old and New Gauley, marriage and burial records are safe in the hand of the Calhoun Co. Historia Society because of him. My prayers are offered on the behalf of his entire family. May God bless his memory. He was a good man.

Tommy Hallum was a gentleman, loving, caring man. He loved his family so much. He was always helping someone any way he could. He loved his Calhoun County & did all he could to help and improve it. I will always remember him as a journalist working for Mr. Sellers Denley. He and Sarah Margaret made the perfect couple. They complemented each other. Tommy will be greatly missed by everyone in Calhoun County & surrounding areas. Rest in peace Tommy. A job well done!!!!
