Obituary for Tommy Hallum

Thomas Wayne “Tommy” Hallum, 89, entered into his Heavenly home from Baptist Nursing Home in Calhoun City on Saturday, October 12, 2019. Born February 7, 1930, in the Mt. Tabor Community, he was the son of the late Baron Lee Hallum and the late Mary Bettie Terry Hallum. Tommy graduated from Pittsboro High School in 1948, and was a faithful member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church where he was Deacon and music director for many years. On February 17, 1984, he married the former Sarah Margaret Few, and they have spent 35 wonderful years together. Tommy proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, and spent many years as an MP Officer at Fort Bliss. He worked many years at Calhoun County Journal and served as Chancery Clerk of Calhoun County from 1980-1992 and in various other capacities throughout his career. He was very creative and artistic and expressed his love through his paintings and photography. Tommy loved gardening and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was the founding member and organizer of the Calhoun County Historical and Genealogy Society. His memory will be cherished forever in the hearts of his friends and family.

A funeral service celebrating his life will be held Monday, October 14, 2019, at 2:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation on Monday, from 12:00pm until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Jim Vance will be officiating. Interment will follow at Calhoun City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Bramlitt, Darrell Bramlitt, Stanley Criss, Jody Criss, Jody Hubbard, Jim Hubbard, David Keeton, and Dustin Keeton.
He leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Sarah Margaret Few Hallum of Calhoun City, and his sister, Mary Bramlitt of Bruce.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
