Obituary

Walter Wayne Little, age 79, of Calhoun City passed away on October 23, 2019. Born September 7, 1940, he was the son of the late Freddie Morgan Little and the late Orie Holland Little. He was born and raised in Oxberry, MS. The youngest son of eleven children. Wayne was instilled at a young age with a strong work ethic and a dedication to family. He passed these beliefs on to his children and grandchildren. Throughout his life, Wayne held many jobs… logger, farm manager, mechanic, and truck driver, but the titles he was most proud of were daddy and Papaw. Always ready with a smile and a laugh, he loved to talk and enjoyed being with his friends and family. He was known for his trademark hats and for being a loyal friend.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie and Orie Little; two sisters, Margie Hancock and Florence Ratliff; five brothers, Marvin Little, Tully Little, Doc Little, Cebo Little, and Buddy Little.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Glenda Goodson Little of Calhoun City, two daughters, Shelley (Keith) Dorris of French Camp and Amanda (Tommy) Stephens of Starkville; nine grandchildren, Ashley (Mack) Williams of Eupora, Zane Dorris of French Camp, Nicholas Reynolds of Mathiston, Jenna Reynolds, of Slate Springs, Ross Cochran of Mathiston, Gavin Bateman of Starkville, Tommy and Carson Stephens of Starkville, and Jessica (Casey) Simmons of Boliver, TN; two great grandchildren, Lilley Williams and Kaigan Simmons; one brother, Bill (Etoyle) Little of Grenada; two sisters, Lou Whatley of Grenada and Mahaley Hames of Oakland; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Wayne will be Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Pryor Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Vance and Bro Danny Spratlin officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
