After retirement James became a Gideon and found that distributing bibles was a blessing to others and a way to honor our Lord. James loved to grow things from cotton to soybeans on the farm, to a variety of vegetables in his huge garden at home. His favorite time of year was in the fall because he loved football season. He was an avid fan of the Ole Miss Rebels, and attending Ole Miss football games, or watching them on TV was his favorite pastime.
James and his wife Mary met at Mississippi College after his return from service in the Army during the Korean War. They were married on June 2, 1956, and have spent almost 64 wonderful years together. Above all, he loved his family and cherished the years with Mary and watching his family grow. They will miss him dearly, but they know he is now rejoicing in his Heavenly home.

Pryor Funeral Home takes the health of our staff, our families, our visitors, and our community very seriously, and we are adhering to guidelines set forth by President Trump and Gov. Tate Reeves. At this time, we are asking everyone to support the limited gathering and visitation policy set by our government officials. We will be allowing small family groups and limiting the number of people in family rooms to 10 at one time at visitations, as well as funerals. For graveside services, we will be asking everyone to also comply with the required social distancing space of six feet. We’re also advising against hand-shaking, hugging, kissing and other intimate contact.
