She was born May 6, 1942, to Mary Nell and Paul Meadows Moore, Sr. of Calhoun City, MS, and was preceded in death by her parents and her nephew, Bennett Van York, Jr.
A lifelong resident of Calhoun City, Sue was a graduate of Calhoun City High School and the University of Mississippi. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who will be remembered for her sweet smile and gentle spirit. She loved Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a lifetime member and an active part of church life until her health prevented her attendance. Sue enjoyed her UMW church ladies' circle meetings and gatherings of friends and family often held in the family home she shared with her mother.
Known affectionately to her family as Sue Sue, she was most often found in the kitchen helping to prepare delicious meals and mouth-watering desserts. Although her last years were filled with pain as her rheumatoid arthritis became worse, she never complained. Sue's family takes great comfort in knowing that her earthly body which was crippled with pain has been healed, and her heavenly body is pain free.
She is survived by her twin sister Nan York (Bennett) of Hattiesburg, younger sisters Kay Johnson (Jackson) of Hattiesburg and Patty Bailey (Steve) of Coffeeville, and by her brothers Paul Moore, Jr. (Judy) and Jerry Moore (Raenell) of Calhoun City. She also leaves behind eight nieces and nephews: Paige York, Julie Lynn, John York, Emily Parker, Chip Moore, Morrow Bailey, Jess, Moore, and Betsey Mosby along with twelve great nieces and nephews. Sue is also survived by her loving caregiver and special friend Linda Easley.
Her family would like to express gratitude for the loving, compassionate care Sue received from the staff of Baptist Calhoun Nursing Home, Dr. Bruce Longest, and her sitters.
A private family graveside service will be held at Calhoun City Cemetery.
