Helen Rose Chandler, 95, passed away at Bruce Community Living Center on Friday, November 13, 2020. Born November 16, 1924, in Calhoun City, she was the daughter of the late Cyrus J. Chandler and the late Ottie Blue Chandler. Rose graduated from Houston High School in 1942, and furthered her education at Miss. State College for Women, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in 1946. From there, she went on to Mississippi State University where she received her Master’s Degree in Education. She also received her Triple A Certificate from the State Department of Education, and was a long time member of Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Teachers Society. After teaching in Greensboro, FL for one year, Rose returned to Calhoun City, where she would spend the rest of her career, teaching for over 40 years at Calhoun City High School.
She was a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was an active member of the United Methodist Women, and also served as Senior Coordinator for many years. She was also a proud member of the Calhoun City New Century Club for over 50 years.
She loved to talk on the phone and play bingo with her friends. She loved Mississippi State University and cheered on her Bulldogs whenever they played.
She leaves behind a great legacy of educating the young people of Calhoun County, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

There will be a private, Family-only Graveside Service celebrating her life on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at 1:00pm at Calhoun City Cemetery. Bro. Will Dowling will officiate, with interment to follow.
Pallbearers will be David Howell, Bryan Howell, Bobby Webb, Pete Webb, Adam Webb, and Daniel Denton.
She leaves behind her nieces, June Chandler and Etta Denton, both of Calhoun City; great-nieces, Mona Howell, Kristi Webb, Jane Ross, Cynthia Griffin, and Ashley Brown; and great-nephews, Daniel Denton, Michael Chandler, and Mark Mooneyham.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mildred Chandler Carter; brothers, R.B. Chandler and C.J. Chandler; and niece, Jackie Peden.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church.
