She was born on March 5, 1936 in Webster County, the daughter of Lang and Bradie Baker Hood. She graduated from Spring Hill High School where she was a standout on the girls’ basketball team. Her love of the game extended throughout her adult life. She was married to John W. Parker, Sr., and they were the parents of three children.

She believed that anything worth doing was worth doing right; and that principle was most evident in the way she cared for her family. Jeanette loved being a homemaker and caregiver. She set a high standard for herself in running her household. She delighted in cooking for her family; but anyone who happened to be at her house at mealtime could attest to her being an exceptional cook and hostess.
Jeanette was a member of Derma Baptist Church. Her strong Christian faith was her source of strength when she lost her husband in 1975 and her son in 2012. She expressed her reliance on her Savior at every opportunity. When she greeted with, “How are you, Jeanette?” She never failed to respond with, “I’m Blessed.” She believed that teaching children about her Christian faith was both a responsibility and an opportunity. For as long as she was able, she made sure everyone around her, especially children, heard her speak of her personal salvation and their need for their own such experience.
Graveside service celebrating her life will be held Friday, December 4, 2020, at 2:00pm at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Calhoun City. Bro. Roger Reeder will be officiating.
