L.C. Vance, 81, formerly of Calhoun City, passed away at his home in Madison, MS on Thursday, January 7, 2021. Born August 5, 1939, in Calhoun City, MS, he was the son of the late Leonel Maurice Vance and the late Christine Inmon Vance. Growing up he was a member of Calhoun City First Baptist Church, and a 1957 graduate of Calhoun City High School. He married the former Elizabeth Kay Sprayberry on June 3, 1962, and they have spent 58 wonderful years together. After high school, L.C. went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Construction and Industrial Technology at Mississippi State University. After graduation, he took a job with IBM in Kingston, NY, eventually taking him to Lexington, KY. Later they moved to Memphis where he began working for RCA. L.C. then started his own Contracting company, Omega General Contractors, Inc. in Memphis. He served on the Board of Directors for Trustmark National Bank, served on the Economic Development Committee of Desoto County, and was Past-President of the Associated Builders and Contractors of Tennessee. My prayers are with you all. There is no replacing LC Vance. When I was a young man working at my uncle's insurance agency in Memphis, I was headed down to the Boy's Club camp down in Sardis with some folks to help rebuild some cabins and a bath house.
I asked LC if he had some scraps at one of his sites that I could scavenge for some lumber I needed. He told me to call Jimmy Whittington Lumber and charge to him anything I needed. I was blown away by his graciousness. We got everything ready for the kids and I will never forget him!

I would like to send my deepest sympathy and love to Miss K Michelle and Kevin I met this wonderful family in the late 70s when I went to Longview Heights Baptist Church Michelle and I played softball there and her dad Mr. LC was our coach my fondest memories of him as he would always tell us at practice that he would cross his arms and do not swing at the ball until he uncrossed them I could never wait and he would give me that look that only Mr.L.C. could give. I know he will be missed by many but welcome to the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
