Pat passed away to his Heavenly Home on January 31, 2021, after an extended illness of Cancer. Born July 15, 1953, to James Kenneth and Tilda Patterson Harrelson. On his journey in life he accepted Jesus as his Savior at an early age of 12 years, at North Oxford Baptist Church, Oxford, MS.
Education was a desire of his and from his studies and career God put the books in his hand and the wisdom in his mind to accomplish the honor and respect of commitment and loyalty to God and Country.
He traveled over the United States and other countries as he served his country in the U.S. Navy, graduating from the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA as a Linguist and Cryptologic Technician. His rank was CT First Class in Intel. He was a Spanish and Russian Linguist and a Fleet Analyst in reporting.
He received, from the Secretary of the Navy, the Navy Achievement Medal, also for his meritorious service in his honorable work in Intel. CT First Class Kenneth P. Harrelson received a Certificate of Appreciation from the President of The United States, Bill Clinton, in helping maintain the security of the U.S.A. with a devotion to duty that is in keeping with the proud tradition of armed forces in honor and respect of commitment and loyalty.
During his career as an Intel Linguist, he received the National Defense Service medal, Navy Good Conduct medal, Navy Achievement medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation ribbon, Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service ribbon, and received awards for leadership management educational training.
He received a degree from Gulf Coast Community College, the degree Associate in Arts in Panama City, FL. He received the degree of Bachelor of Science in Information Studies from Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL with the highest G.P.A.
Pat is survived by his mother, Tilda Patterson Harrelson, sisters, Janet Harrelson Baker (Floyd), Susan Harrelson Ross (Joel), one niece, Shayla Baker Taylor (T.J.), three nephews, Justin Baker (Wensalee), Grant Ross (Courtney), Peyton Ross, four great-nieces, Leela Baker, Layla Baker, Jaci Sutherland, Knoxlee Taylor, five great-nephews, Gage Baker, Kendric Baker, Keaton Baker, Kye Baker, Benjamin Lee Ross.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Kenneth Harrelson, his grandparents, Ruel and Maxie Harrelson, and Clyde and Alma Patterson, great niece, Etta Ross, two nephews, Jason Baker and Heath Sutherland.
Pryor Funeral Home has the honor of serving the Harrelson family.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021, at 1:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home in Calhoun City. There will also be a visitation on Thursday from 12:00pm until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Chad Logan, Bro. Keith Spratlin, Bro. Danny Spratlin, and Bro. Vince Anderson will be officiating. Interment will follow at Pittsboro Cemetery in Pittsboro, MS.
Pallbearers will be Justin Baker, T.J. Taylor, Grant Ross, Peyton Ross, Gage Baker, Kendric Baker, Keaton Baker, and Kye Baker.
