Jerrol Lofton Hamilton, 79, passed away on March 10, 2021, in Columbus, MS.
A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2021, at 3:00pm at New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service across from the cemetery at New Providence Baptist Church, 147 County Road 460, Calhoun City, MS.
Mr. Hamilton was born in Vardaman, MS to Baylas and Josie Russell Hamilton on May 4, 1941. He graduated from Vardaman High School. He picked cotton for money during his youth. He was proud that his parents let him keep the money he made even during hard times. After graduation, he joined the United States Army Reserve. He always told how he would take others’ KP duty so he could earn money. He was a business man from early on. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved travelling around the U.S., especially out west. He met Bobbi Munn in Clarksdale, MS. They married April 8, 1966. Their daughter, Nancy Michelle Hamilton, was born July 11, 1968.
He had a variety of memberships and awards.
He was the owner of Tri-State Termite and Pest Control for over 50 years.

Citizen of the Year for Clarksdale, MS
Member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry 32nd degree mason

Jerrol worked with the Chamber of Commerce to bring many businesses to Clarksdale, MS. He loved Clarksdale and worked hard to bring good to the area. He donated buildings to the city to bring the Depot area to life where people now flock to visit Clarksdale in search of the Blues experience. The greatest loves of his life were his grandchildren, Jeremy Daniel Byrd and Mary Kathryn Byrd Thrash. He was his daughter's and grandchildren's greatest playmate in childhood. He was a mighty force that leaves a huge void in his family and friends' lives. He was known for his humor, adventurousness, generosity, strong work ethic, honesty, and loyal friendship.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Baylas and Josephine Russell Hamilton; father-in-law, Mitchell Munn; his brothers James Russell Hamilton, John Thomas "Jake" Hamilton, Ray Anderson Hamilton and Cecil Ray Vaughan; nephews, Grant Edington Hamilton and David Glenn Vaughan. We are comforted knowing that these loved ones along with countless more family and friends met to welcome him to heaven.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Frances Munn Hamilton "Bobbi"; his daughter Nancy Michelle
Hamilton Little (Steve); his grandson Jeremy Daniel Byrd (Sydney); his granddaughter Mary Kathryn
Thrash (Matthew) and his namesake great-grandson, Lofton Charles Thrash. He was always exited to hear that Lofton had his name. He was so proud and thankful. He is survived by his sister Nancy Jo Hamilton Vaughan and brother Kenneth Earl Hamilton (Kathy) ; and mother-in-law, Frances Munn Blanton. He is also survived by sisters-in -law Ruth Hamilton and Juanita Hamilton ; nephews and nieces Cecil Vaughan, Jr, Chris Hamilton, Jeff Shankle, Todd Hamilton, Tim Vaughan, Susan Hamilton Mahaffey, Trent Hamilton and Haley Hamilton Bollinger, additional granddaughters that he welcomed with open arms, Chelsea Little Curtis(Jacob) and Kelsi Little.
Pallbearers will be his nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be best friend, Carl Bailey, neighbor and friend Keith Dooley, childhood best friend Sam Scarbrough, friends and business managers Terry Martin and John Neal along with employees of Tri State Termite and Pest Control.
Jerrol took over Tri-State in 1969 and set out to grow the business. He could sell anybody anything. He never met a stranger. If you met him one time, you knew him forever and he would know you. His bigger than life personality and positivity just stuck with you.

I am so deeply sorry to learn of your loss. Jerrol was a wonderful person to work with - always honest and trustworthy. My years of working with him at the hospital are filled with good memories - he was a man of his word. He and family were good neighbors for many years. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

In Christian Love,

Mrs. Hamilton and Michelle,

I am so sorry for your loss. I loved Mr. Hamilton! I have so many fond memories of him! Mr. Hamilton gave Wes a much needed job after graduation, many years ago. He was a good man and Clarksdale was lucky to have him! Please know that you are all in my prayers. I think of you all often and I am so thankful for the wonderful memories.

Much Love,
Julie Nall
