Ronnie Ladell “R.C.” Childs, 70, passed away at his home in Big Creek on Saturday, April 10, 2021. Born September 11, 1950, in Calhoun County, he was the son of the late Rufus Fletcher Childs, Jr. and the late Emma Nell Harrison Childs. Ronnie was a 1961 graduate of Calhoun City High School, and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. He was retired after working many years at Medlift Inc. in Calhoun City. Ronnie loved to fish and work in his garden. He was also known to take showers outside occasionally, so you could say he was a true outdoorsman. He was a quiet and private person, but he was very friendly, and once you got to know him, he could sure tell some tales. Above all, he loved his family, and his memory will be cherished forever in their hearts.
Pryor Funeral Home is honored to serve the Childs family.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at 2:00pm at Dividing Ridge Baptist Church in Yalobusha County. There will also be a visitation on Tuesday from 1:00pm until service time at the Church.
Bro. Truman Scarbrough will be officiating, with interment to follow at Dividing Ridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jordan Childs, Eric Childs, Shane Childs, Rusty Childs, Jeremy Collums, and Billy Rounsaville.
He leaves behind his wife, Patricia McElhaney; brother, Donald Rufus Childs and his wife Diana of Grenada; niece, Amy Springfield; and nephews, Jordan Childs, Shane Childs, and Rusty Childs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Emma Nell Childs; and brother, Tully W. Childs.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Expressions of sympathy may be left for the family at
