Obituary

Patsy McNair Mitchell Clanton, 89, passed away at her home in Derma on Monday, April 12, 2021. Born March 13, 1932, in Calhoun County, she was the daughter of the late Ervin C. McNair and Virgie Idell Parker McNair.
In 1948, she married Joe Allen Mitchell, and they spent 26 years together until his passing in 1974. She married Braxton Clanton in 1978, and they were together until his passing in 1987.
In her early adulthood she was a member of Second Baptist Church, where she taught the youth in Sunday School, and loved to keep up with them through the years whenever she could. She loved to sing in her soprano voice in the choir and at one point was the song director. Later in life she became a faithful member of Derma Baptist Church, where she served her Lord in teaching the ladies Sunday School, sang in the choir and loved to plan trips for the senior adults.
Early in her career, Patsy worked at Rupert Lunceford’s supermarket. From there, she entered into the Banking Industry, working at Sunburst Bank, later known as Regions Bank, with over 25 years of dedicated service. After retirement she did some traveling and worked her flower gardens. She enjoyed doing her own yard work, even the mowing. But as the years progressed she turned to her favorite past time of playing a game of cards (Hands and Feet), until Covid and the quarantine. She was a very sweet and kind soul who loved people, and her memory will be cherished forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
She leaves behind her daughters, Patricia Baker (Dennis) of Banner, and Diane Gulledge (Stanley) of Calhoun City; grandchildren, Jennifer Knight, Natalie Jones(Cary), Mitchell Gulledge, and Kyle Gulledge(Courtney); great-grandchildren, Shelby Collins (Johnathan), Drew Knight, Wyatt Jones, Nora Gulledge, and Alexander Gulledge; great-great grandchild, Raylen Collins; special niece, Jan Mayhan; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Joe Allen Mitchell; second husband, Braxton Clanton; sisters, Wanda Collins, Lanita Webb, and Joyce Provine Parks; and brothers, Parker Dean McNair, and Jessie Clyde McNair.
Pryor Funeral Home is honored to serve Patsy’s family.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at 2:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation on Thursday from 12:00pm until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Roger Reeder will be officiating, with interment to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be David Webb, Mike Provine, Tim James, David Mitchell, Mike Pumphrey, and Tony McNair.
Expressions of sympathy may be left for the family at pryorfuneralhome.com.
