Obituary for Joyce Lucius (Hamilton)

Joyce Marie Hamilton Lucius, 71, passed away at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. Born June 22, 1950, in Vardaman, she was the daughter of the late Rex Hamilton and the late Lera McQuary Hamilton. She was a 1968 graduate of Vardaman High School, and was a member of New Providence Baptist Church. On June 21, 1968, she married the love of her life, Phil Lucius, and they have spent 54 wonderful years together.
Joyce was retired after serving many years as Deputy Chancery Clerk for Calhoun County, where she loved working with the people in the community. She was dedicated to her church, and absolutely loved her church family. She loved to get her nails done, and get all dressed up for any occasion that arose. She enjoyed working in her garden and tending to her flowers, and would always make time for a yard sale. Above all, she loved her family. Retirement allowed her the time to spend with them, and she cherished every moment. She loved to be involved in the grandkids’ activities and sports, and wouldn’t miss going to one of their ballgames. Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her passing has broken the hearts of her family and friends, but they find some comfort in knowing that she has now been reunited with Lynn in Heaven, and that they are both in the arms of Jesus.
