Obituary for Mary Jane Ellison (Clanton)

Mary Jane Clanton Ellison, 69, passed away at her home in Calhoun City on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. Born October 26, 1953, in Calhoun County, she was the daughter of the late Herman Troy Clanton and the late Mary Louise Hughes Clanton. She was a 1971 graduate of Calhoun City High School, and was retired after many years as Supervisor at Cottage Lane Furniture. She was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church where she loved her church and church family. In 1970, she married Glen Ellison, and they have spent over 52 years together. She loved to cook, and enjoyed working with her flowers. She was always on the go and wouldn’t slow down. She was a natural caregiver, and loved helping anybody she could, and didn’t want any recognition whatsoever. Above all, her greatest joy was her family. She was the glue that held everyone together. They are heartbroken over her sudden passing, but they find some comfort in knowing she is in the arms of Jesus. Her memory will be forever held in the hearts of all who knew her.
Pryor Funeral Home is honored to serve the Ellison family.
A Funeral Service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023, at 2:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation on Friday from 12:30pm until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Chris Conlee will be officiating, with Bro. Earl Flemons delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Parker, David White, Nick Ruth, Dale Reynolds, Earl Flemons, and Jim Warner.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Baker, Jr, T.J. Clanton, Cole Baker, Alex Sartin, Jerry Ellison, and Rodney Covington.
